Where to sell used furniture in Dubai (2026 guide)

Dubai is a city that moves. Leases end, contracts change, families upgrade from a one-bedroom in JLT to a villa in Arabian Ranches, and every one of those moves leaves behind a sofa, a dining table or a wardrobe that will not fit in the new place.

The good news: there is a busy second-hand market for furniture in Dubai, and good pieces sell fast. Here is where to list them, how to price them, and how to get them out of your home without stress.

1. Sell to your neighbors first

The easiest buyer is the one who lives in your building or community. Collection is a walk across the courtyard, not a drive across Sheikh Zayed Road, and nobody has to book a pickup truck.

List the item in your neighborhood marketplace on Hoodly and it is shown to verified residents who live nearby. Because everyone has confirmed where they live, you are dealing with neighbors, not anonymous accounts, and most questions can be settled in a quick chat before anyone comes over.

2. Reach more people in your area

If nobody in your building bites straight away, widen the circle:

  • Post in your neighborhood feed. A short "moving out, everything must go" post with a few photos reaches neighbors who were not browsing the marketplace that day.
  • Share it in your communities. If you are in a parents, sports or new-residents community on Hoodly, a kids' bed or a desk often finds a buyer there first.
  • Bundle items. "Bedroom set: bed, mattress and two side tables" sells faster than four separate listings, and the buyer only books one pickup.

3. Sell to used furniture dealers

If you need everything gone in one go, for example when leaving the UAE, used furniture dealers will collect a whole apartment's worth at once. They are fast, but they pay far less than private buyers because they have to resell. Get two or three quotes, and send photos in advance so the price does not drop when they arrive.

4. Give away or donate what does not sell

Anything left can be listed as free on Hoodly. A neighbor will usually collect within a day, and it saves you paying someone to haul it away. Furniture in good condition can also go to a local charity; many UAE charities accept donated furniture and household items, and some will collect. Check their current donation process before you call, since what they accept changes.

How to price used furniture in Dubai

There is no fixed formula, but these rules of thumb work well:

Condition Rough asking price
Like new, under 1 year, popular brand 50–70% of what you paid
Good condition, 1–3 years 30–50%
Visible wear, older 10–30%, or free to a good home

A few things move the price up: a recognisable brand, a matching set, the original receipt, and being free to collect from a ground floor or a building with a service lift. Big, heavy pieces in an apartment with no lift sell for less, because the buyer has to pay movers.

Check what similar items are listed for in your neighborhood marketplace before you post. If identical wardrobes nearby are listed at AED 300, yours will not sell at AED 600.

Write a listing that sells

  1. Take photos in daylight. Open the curtains, clear the clutter, and shoot from a few angles. Include a photo of any damage, which builds trust.
  2. Give the exact dimensions. Most "is it still available?" messages are really "will it fit?"
  3. Say where it is and when it can be collected. "JVC, ground floor, collection weekday evenings or Saturday" saves a dozen messages.
  4. Mention why you are selling. "Moving to a smaller place" sounds better than nothing at all.

Stay safe when buyers come to collect

  • Meet in the lobby or have a neighbor or friend at home when someone comes to view.
  • Agree the price before the visit, so there is no haggling at the door.
  • Take cash or a bank transfer that has actually arrived. Be wary of anyone who asks to pay "later" or sends a screenshot instead of the money.
  • Never share personal documents, card details or one-time passwords. A buyer never needs them.

Selling to verified neighbors avoids most of these worries, which is a big part of why we built Hoodly.

Timing matters

The busiest time for furniture sales in Dubai is the summer moving season, roughly June to August, when many leases end and families relocate before the new school year. Listings go up in large numbers then, so if you can sell a few weeks before the rush, you will face less competition.

Quick checklist

  • List in your neighborhood marketplace on Hoodly
  • Share it in your neighborhood feed and communities
  • Price at 30–50% of retail for good-condition pieces
  • Add dimensions, location and collection times
  • Get paid before the item leaves your home
  • Donate what is left

Moving soon? Download Hoodly and list your furniture for the people next door. It usually finds a new home within the same community.
